Token Choice

This has been something I've been thinking about for a while now. But it would be amazing if we were able to choose the arts that are shown for each of our tokens. Having the arts match our decks more if we so desire. And for the people who aren't interested they could have a "Default" option that allows them to just be the normal updated modo client versions.

Cards should generate their associated tokens, and not tokens from other sets.
This is mainly why I want the feature added. Between letting everyone choose their tokens like we currently do with basic lands and having the client default to the newest version of any given token I am definitely going to vote towards players getting more options for personal expression.

Magic is a shared experience and not everything is about personal expression. Consistency and clarity in the game state are also important characteristics. Every baroque addition comes at a cost to the rest of the program.

I feel like we want the same thing here, ultimately. I just made a huge misplay recently in a game of commander because Swan Song now generates the LotR Bird token by default since the last update. It was 100% my fault for not reading the board more carefully, but at a glance I didn't see the Bird token I've been used to for over a decade and made a mistake.

What I'm wanting implemented is the Theros version of Swan Song to make the Theros token and the new LotR Swan Song reprint to make the new token, and players can make their choice from there.

Just wanted to bring this thread back to note that the client has gotten very bad lately with how sometimes it doesn't even attempt to use the right art for the token being generated. Decayed Zombie token with one of the regular Zombie token arts, a 3/3 Beast with the art for a 4/4 Beast (tooltip even calls out it being a 4/4 token), and a 2/2 Shapeshifter token using the 3/2 Shapeshifter token from Black Market Connections (also with the tooltip calling out that the token made is for a 3/2).

I feel like at a minimum cards should make their set appropriate token art so that cards aren't potentially generating completely different looking game pieces every 2-3 months with their effects.

I'd def like this is a feature.

On a related note, something I'd LOVE to see and something that I could have sworn we did have at some point is if foil token producers made foil tokens.

I always liked foil cards and it bums me out a bit when all my cards are foil but then my tokens aren't.

I remember back in the v3 client foil cards would make foil tokens, and luckily my buddies channel on YouTube is still a record for stuff from the v3 days.

Oh nice! It's good to know I wasn't tripping about there being a time when foil cards made foil tokens!

I'd def wanna see your friends youtube of old school MTGO. I kinda miss the days of having backgrounds and avatars that showed damage and the cute lobby with tables and people walking around as like Serra Angel and Mahamotti Djinns and stuff.
