Could Not Reproduce Client wouldn't let Abrade be cast

While playing a game with a friend last night, I ran into an issue where I couldn't figure out how to cast abrade. I sent a message to support as I assumed I was probably doing something wrong, but was suggested to post this issue here.

Here is the correspondence between myself and support where I've highlighted the issue, as well as the screenshot:

Provided you can pay for the spell, you should be able to select the modes for it.

I could not figure out how to cast Abrade. Whenever selecting a mode the cast button would be greyed out, regardless if I had available mana or if it was floating. I streamed what I was seeing in my client to my friend that I was playing against, and he and some other friends couldn't figure out what I was meant to do either.
Could you please let me know how to cast a spell with multiple modes? I've attached a screenshot of what I was seeing.

In a recent game with a buddy and he sent me this screen shot from our match where the client wouldn't let him cast Abrade even though there was nothing in play that should have been preventing him from casting it. He kept trying to cast it the game continued, and eventually the client let him a few turns later, but this looks to be incorrect behavior.

I've had a number of issues with this since starting MTGO recently, where a number of Choose X spells won't let me confirm the choices to cast the spell, most recently in a draft game with Spree cards such as Metamorphic Blast and Three Steps Ahead, but also other choose cards like Tyrant's Scorn and (from a Pauper match, Cast into the Fire). Unsure of what to do, the most recent issue bricked about half my hand.

Forgot to add, on each of the screenshots you can see the cast button is greyed out, even though I have the mana to cast whichever spell and legal targets.
