More Info Needed Serra Paragon Bug

There was a Serra Paragon in play. I used Oko, Thief of Crowns +1 ability to turn it into an Elk. My opponent later gave the Serra Paragon protection from green. Afterwards, they were able to use the Serra Paragon's abilities again despite it still being an Elk.

They gave protection using Giver of Runes by the way.

In solitaire trying to reproduce this the Serra Paragon loses all abilities as expected when turned into an elk by Oko, even when given pro green by Giver of Runes. Was the ability that went off after you elked the Serra Paragon one of the delayed triggers attached to one of the permanents they replayed?
