Shatter the Oath

My opponent casts shatter the oath, I gave my creature hexproof and they still got the wicked token. I feel like the spell should have fizzled here since the first target became illegal. Is this right or is it seen as 2 separate lines of text?

I just tested this, and it appears both effects target simultaneously, not one contingent on the other. So if either one of the two effects fizzles, the other still occurs.
