Confirmed Plaguecrafter doesn't force discard if player can't sacrifice

I happened to notice this during a game I was playing, and I was able to reproduce it in testing. Plaguecrafter not forcing a discard greatly effects the function of the card over similar options like Fleshbag Marauder. Plaguecrafter is a very common card to see in commander, and I hope this can be fixed quickly.

It's amazing how often cards go from working to broken. This has been the case since the beginning. It makes you wonder what the code for this game looks like. Maybe one day it'll be open source and people can help get this shit together.

My understanding based on job postings and being old is that it's Perl spaghetti code from 2002-3. I'm not sure how much changed between v1 and v2 on the backend, but since then the rules engine has only been updated never refactored or replaced. I'm impressed by how well Daybreak can manage it, since Wizards accumulated enough technical debt to abandon a project that was previously as much as 50% of their Magic income.
