Mist of Stagnation requires each player to select X number of permanents to untap during their upkeep, where X is the number of cards in that player's graveyard. However, you must always select X number of permanents. So even if you don't have any untapped permanents you must still select X of them, this is not really an issue but just a bit annoying.

The big problem is that if you have more cards in your graveyard than permanents in play, you can't select enough permanents and will therefore be stuck in your upkeep. I was not able to come any further at this point, tried yielding through it and selecting the same permanents twice but they just get de-selected so that doesn't work either. Basically you get stuck in the game once your number of cards in GY > permanents in play.

In attached screenshot I have 7 cards in my GY and 6 permanents in play.

Did your opponent have permanents in play you could have selected? Mists does not say the permanents have to belong to you, just that you must select X permanents.

I think Firedrake is correct here, if you look at the top of the posted screenshot the edge of the creatures we can see are highlighted how the client tends to highlight things that are selectable when choosing targets for abilities/spells.
