Not A Bug Lithoform Engine simply not functioning in Freeform game

so as said, Lithoform Engine just isnt working, icasted it, it claimed it had summoning sickness which is odd as its a legendary artifact but NOT a creature or vehicle, so i waited another turn, then i find out that its abilities cannot be activated...at all...you can tap the mana but the card will not respond no matter what, its third/final ability is to pay 4 mana and tap it to create a token copy of a permanent you control...i tapped hte 4 mana, card would not allow me to cast the ability even though i had valid targets, the ability it seems simply did not exist as a function of the card

i do not know if htis only happens with the Zendikar Rising version of the card but that was the one i was using, but even when yuo have the mana, you simply cannot activate any of its tap abilities, the options are simply not there to actually use them

Fun fact, under the rules every permanent has summoning sickness, it just doesn't do anything unless the permanent is a creature or becomes a creature.

I think I understand what went wrong here. The third ability of Lithoform Engine isn't to copy a permanent, it's to copy a permanent spell, which means it has to be activated before what you want to copy resolves. If you don't control a permanent spell, an instant/sorcery, or an ability to copy on the stack Lithoform Engine will sit in play without being able to select it as a useable card.

so the thing is...as i noted, ALL its abilities were refusing to activate... not just the third one, if the third one is as you say that explains only one third of the problem

the third one was just its biggest function in the deck, but i also attempted to use the one for an activated or triggered ability as well and it still did not allow it even when the ability was on the stack and had not resolved yet

to be more specific, i had activated Trenchpost's ability to make the opponent mill cards, but while it was still on the stack i tried to tap the mana to duplicate it with Lithoform Engine, it would still not allow me to activate the duplication ability, but as you note, as the ability was unresolved and on the stack, it SHOULD have allowed me to copy it

also sorry for taking so long to get back to this, apparently the subscribe feature either didnt work, or didnt work as expected so i didnt get any sort of notification or email about a response so i assumed there hadnt been any

Are you holding control with the Ctrl key when you're trying to activate Lithoform Engine? If you're not retaining priority the client will never give you the chance to activate any of the abilities of the Lithoform Engine before it's too late.
