Could Not Reproduce Drown in the Loch not working

This has happened a couple of times but when I try to counter a spell it just doesn't let me cast the counter side. I was trying to counter a Nadu and my opponent had 12 cards in their graveyard. Any help/additional information would be appreciated. I can't figure out how to attach a photo to this but I took a screenshot that I can provide.

Just out of curiosity, would it let you cast the "destroy" side once Nadu was in play? Does it give you a modal options pop-up? If so, as a workaround, have you tried selecting the bottom option if available, to get the Cast button to light up, then switching to the option you want before casting it? Or does the spell just not work for you at all? Just wondering...

The modal options popped up but the "cast" button did not light. I could not choose to destroy anything, but once the Nadu resolved the destroy side worked.

Could he, by any chance, cast Nadu with Delighted Halfling? If so, Delighted Halfling has 'This creature can't be countered' when casting a legendary creature spell.

Testing applied: Game state reproduction. Tested with and without enough cards in the graveyard and Drown in the Loch worked as intended in both setups. Tested before, for and after Nadu, Winged Wisdom being cast.
Test Results: When enough cards were in the opponent's graveyard, I could counter spells or destroy creatures with mana values equal or less than that number of cards in the graveyard. The Cast button was always available to cast Drown in the Loch.
