Lemme firstly make it clear that im not complaining or speaking ill of the mods or whoever handles reports in anyway. I fully understand that stalling is a fairly minor offense and I don't expect nor even want the people who stall out on me to like get banned for life or anything like that. I'm just genuinely curious as to like what reporting actually accomplishes with cases like this.
I do understand the whole thing of "During the investigation process, we cannot inform you of any of the actions taken against another users account due to our privacy policy." and I respect that. Like im not even asking like, "Hey, tell me exactly how you handled this report and what happened to the person I reported.". But like am I accomplishing anything at all by reporting? Like again sincerely not complaining, but just wanting to know if im basically wasting my own time AND the time of the MTGO staff by constantly making these reports.
Even just like a "Yes, your reports are relevant. Dont hesitate to report in the future" would make me feel a lil less silly about filing them or heck, I'd accept and understand a brutally honest like, "We can't atm do anything in regards to players stalling and reports dont actually amount to anything".
On that note though, realistically it would be cool if people had SOME repercussion for intentional stalling. And by "intentional stalling" I dont just mean playing slow where the other player is a few mins behind you on the clock or the occasional times where you join a game and the other players timer just rolls where you could kinda safely assume there's a good chance they maybe opened the game and went AFK and werent intentionally timing out and just forgot they had a game open. Im talking like when a player is playing the game just fine and then when you make a play they dont like, rather than concede, they just stop responding or disconnect to where it's pretty clear they're doing this on purpose because they're upset at the play but want to make some sort of statement by just leaving the game rather than conceding. Which...is silly cause it's not like that prevents you from starting another game. Heck i've even seen a lot of players straight up say some variation of "Um yeah, you're gonna wait forever now!" like making it clear they are very much doing it intentionally out of anger.
I'd like if there was a world where at least SOMETHING happened to them to discourage this. Something fair like they can't start or join a game for a few hours or whatever. Im not looking to see people banned or anything but at least some reasonable repercussion that would keep so many players from just relying on doing something childish like that so often.
