In a recent game I attempted to cast Red Elemental Blast while my opponent had both blue permanents in play and also a blue spell on the stack, thus being able to choose any of the two modes of the blast. When I clicked "cast", it opened the dialogue to choose which of the two modes I would like to cast, but when I chose either of the two the "cast" button in the menu appeared still grayed out, so I couldn't click on it and thus could not cast the card.
When I tried to cast it while only one of the modes was possible (either countering a blue spell or destroying a blue permanent without having the other option available) the problem didn't appear.
The same is true for Pyroblast.
